FNH P90/PS90 Magazine vs ATI P90/PS90 Magazine

Here is a side by side break down of the two magazines together.

The first noticeable item is the magazine spring.
The ATI magazine spring is much shorter and is coated in some sort of black latex. I would assume they coated it with latex to prevent rust.
But I don't know if you can strech out the spring without destroying the latex coating.

    Next is the mag rollers.
The ATI mag rollers are a bit more rough, have more flashing, and have two nipples on them (which the FNH rollers do not).
You can see the two nipples at the top on each side of the roller in this picture.
These may have something to do with hollow points failing to load up the ramp???

Here are the two magazines side by side.

    TQ,
Nice side by side comparison. The first thing is the spring. they both have the same number of turns, although the ATI unit has them closer to each other. I think this difference will cause weaker pressure on the rounds as the magazine is emptied. I don't think it's a cause for concern in a PS90 that is fired "slow-fire", but in a rapid-fire scenario, such as a P90 this difference may cause the bolt to close on an empty chamber.

The burrs on the rollers are probably a 'sprue' from the molding process. Nothing an exacto-knife can't remedy. I would trim them to mimic the factory rollers.

    The body and the floor-plate:
Without sending the material for analysis, I can't tell if it's the same material composition or not. Although they 'look' similar, I can't tell if they are, and if they will be as durable as the factory units.

Thanks again for the comparison TQ. That deserves a +1 karma from me.

The length of the spring is of little consequence; its the actual pressure that the spring produces that's important.

Nicely done, tq. I have a couple of ATIs heading my way and I doubt I would have noticed the little nipples, and if I have any feeding problems, they'll be gone.

The ATI spring feels weaker than the FNH one.
I would assume its due to maybe the metal is thinner?
They look the same width but the ATI spring is latex/plastic coated and that hides the real spring inside.
I have yet to mess with the sping in any other way because I don't have a spare one incase I break it.

The latex coating is a nice idea, it will greatly reduce the chance of rust but...what are the down sides

It will also keep your springs from contracting herpes, but that's not important right now...
