Best optic rail for a PS90 standard?????

I'm having a delima trying to decide now what the best optic rail to install on a PS90 Standard.

I haven't purchased the rifle yet so I'm open to some possible suggestions of change.

I have already ordered an EOTech XPS 2-1, Unimax laser with rifle pack and an Eagletac T20C flashlight. I intend to mount the EOTech and the Unimax inline on the optic rail. The Eagletac will be mounted on the right side rail.

I was considering getting the PS90 triple rail at first. I understand that the TR has short side rails and I'd have to replace at least one of the side rails to setup my flashlight properly. It crossed my mind to just save the extra $200 in cost for the triple rail and just get a standard model and purchase and aftermarket optical rail.

That brought up questions such as can the new standard model's optical rail be replaced or can it accomadate the EOTech and the Unimax on top.

If I dissposed of the standard system all together what would be the best optical rail available now to install in it's place considering what I want for my setup.

To help others in your answer... You PM'd me about this, and admittedly, some of us old timers thing of the USG or the prev white ringed model as the "standard PS90, and then the triple rail as the other PS90. But, you are asking about the NEW "standard" Ps90 with FN's own optic rail.

I did mention that I do not know if that version's rail is removable with the same exact mounting points as an aftermarket rail...

It is removable, I dont know if it matches up with aftermarket rails, because I am not sure why you would want anything else....

I run an EOtech 556 on my standard, it runs perfect, I can post a pic if you want.

Honestly, NOBODY outside of me on this site has experience with the standard, there are a lot of "opinions" on here....but as far as I know I am the only one on here who has and uses one. I traded my Tri-Rail for it.

Sounds like your the man I need to talk to.
I don't know how long the top rail is on the standard. I need it to accomadate the EOTech XPS and the Unimax. I'm assumng that all I'd have to do is mount a side rail for my flashlight then.

The thought of the aftermarket optic rail was just to make sure the rail was long enough. Since you have it and if you think it's fine for my setup then I'll trust that. It's therefore more cost effective for me to just get the standard then.

    A pic would be nice.

It appears that the rail on the "standard" sits a little higher than an aftermarket rail would. It makes it look a little strange to me. But, not sure if you mind that and want to save the $200+ and could live with that.

Here it is with the 556 EOtech on it. As you can see there are still 4-5 open slots.

Since you bought an XPS you will have plenty of room on the rail. I dont have the length off hand but I will measure it tomorrow and count the number of slots it has.

Keep in mind that the Standard does NOT come with any side rails, you have to buy the side rails. I bought mine (on here from TQ) from CMMG, they are very nice.

Well, Even if I saved $200 getting the standard and then spent $100 for an aftermarket rail, I'd still be to the good over purchasing the triple rail.

Here you can find the rails:

Also the rail does sit higher, with me EOtech I shoot with both eyes and hold the gun near my chin, you will not have a cheek weld.

I believe when I measured my tri-rail height compared to my standard it was about 1 inch higher, while it sits about .75 inches higher than an aftermarket rail.

But for .75 inches higher you get adjustable iron sights, you cant beat that.

To me, the ideal way is to buy a USG, then take off the optic and put on a critical dimensions/promoted pawn rail for around $100 - then sell the USG sight to make up some of your $$. I like that better than a triple rail. Add your own side rails, and you have created an improved triple rail...
