Nice Schematic. I'd like my PS90 to have a laser that is clearly visible in broad daylight and able to operate at below freezing temperatures. I'm thinking of playing with this (HighTechDealZ - 445nm 1W (1000mW) Blue Brand New Laser Diode in Aixiz Module) emmiter @ ~500mw. I'm sure heat buildup will be a problem.

Talk about overkill. The 20mW green laser that I have is visible in bright daylight well over 200 meters. You wouldn't need bullets with that as you could burn and blind at that same time. Soulds more like a phaser.....

Now I have to find a suitable replacement material to put behind the emitter once I do the connections.
It think what they used was an acrylic resin like alumilite. It's a two part formula that is less viscous than water when first mixed, but only has a 30 second open time. In a few minutes it's hard and after a day it is so hard that it can be machined. It's non-conductive and tolerant of high temps. I have 2 gallons of the stuff. I could send you some.

Less lethal and lethal all in one platform.

I may very well take you up on that offer. Thanks.

OK so I havn't posted since Jan 22. But havn't stoped playing around. Had to order some electronic components and do a little work to build a new driver board. Pretty simple, it is a single output but I have already figured out how I am going to turn it into a ON OFF ON like the regular laser switching. Due to the power increase, I had to increase the voltage as well. I jumped form 3.7V to 6V DC to drive the new laser.

    DSCN0967.jpg

The driver board. The blue box is a variable resistor that controls the current to the laser diode.

    DSCN0968.jpg

The laser lit up with a NCStar 3mW laser lit up next to it.

Going to need some time to figure out how I am going to seat the lens cover. Because I am using a 630nm laser instead of the 635nm laser that the P90 has, you are going to see a color shift. Due to the color shift and other factors, the lens is no longer attuned to the proper convergence frequency. This means that the lens has to be placed further away from the diode by thousands of an inch to get in focus. It could also be the difference in the laser emiters.

Laser side by side just about equal strength.

3mW 635nm laser vs new 10mW 630nm laser. Watch for the color shift. The 10mW laser is in LED mode so this is below the ith threshold that the LED operates in.

    DSCN0956.jpg

Approx same output of 3mW long exposure. Notice the color shift and the 'danding' beam. Guess I wasn't too steady.. There is more yellow in the 630nm wavelength.

    DSCN0957.jpg

Another shot with the same output.

    DSCN0958.jpg

Somewhere below 10mW output. Notice the puny 3mW laser next to it. I will never be sure of the output unless I get it calibrated. There is a formula to figure out about where you are at but it is long and tedious.

At the very least power to illuminate. In the LED mode next to the NCStar 3mW laser.

    DSCN0963.jpg

    DSCN0964.jpg

Right after it starts to laser, above the oth threshold. Until it starts to lazer, all I have is a expensive LED pointer.

    DSCN0965.jpg

I make this to be between 4mW and 6mW. Maybe the high output for civilian arms lasers.

    DSCN0966.jpg

Here she is again at max output of less than or around 10mW. Again, I do not know and it can be only 7mW or 8mW. All I know is that it is enough to illuminate the room.
