Forgive me if this has been covered in depth somewhere, but I did a search and didn't find anything specifically answering this:
Is there *any* way to mount one of the factory PS90 optics on the TR model receiver? In my mind, pretty much anything can be done with enough modification - the question is always simply how much modification is required. I know they aren't compatible for a quick swap between the tri-rail and the optic, but is there no way to do the swap with a bracket or by modifying the optic housing? Has anyone done it or tried it?

There is always a way to do something. But in this case, the factory optic would be way to high and you would lose any semblance of a cheek rest, let alone the optic being a substantial distance above the bore of the rifle, even if you could find a suitable way to mount the factory optic. This is why I purchased the USG model and added the rails. It is so much more versatal with sight changes.

Maybe UpandComer will trade you his standard for your TR.
I don't want to trade, I just had the opportunity to pick up just the optic assembly at one point, and I was wondering how difficult it would be.
HK, I don't want to mount the optic OVER the TR... I just want to swap the whole assembly, one for the other. That way it would sit as if it were a factory PS90 standard. Or am I missing something here?

In that case, I would have to say no. The rails on the TR is part of the machined receiver. You would need to get a new USG receiver to do this, and unless you had a complete upper, you would have to swap out the barrel and other components. Sometimes a complete upper comes up for sale but they are few and far inbetween.

Fair enough. Thanks for the info.
