Knowing the diameters of the rings in the reticle could be helpful.

I got a hold of a black ring sight for the first time today. I love it. Low Profile, light weight, and custom made for the weapon. I never realized but the prisms inside make it so you are seeing out of the sight at a lower elevation than you are looking in. It doesn't mess with your eyes, even at close range, but has the benefit of getting the sight line a little closer to the bore, which I like. The black rings are crisp and clear on all except black backgrounds, at which point a German style red reticle appears out of nowhere, glowing like hot iron. I can't wait to shoot with this thing. It has the blue REM illumination too, which looks very crisp and high-tech, like something out of TRON. Very cool. Better than I expected.
