Just got my PS90 so I'm a newbie and haven't shot it yet. Was wondering though... it almost looks like something is supposed to insert into/onto the bottom ejection port. Is that true? If so, what?
Also, I noticed there is a door and I closed it. Can't seem to get it open again though. It will open automatically after the first shot is fired, right? Also, is there any way to manually open it?
Believe it or not, the door you speak of is called the "obturator". It is to keep the inner workings of the rifle clean in dirty situations. Once it is closed, it will remain closed unless the moving parts group is moved to the rear. This happens when charging the firearm or when the firearm is fired. It is all automatic so do not worry about it. Just close the door if you are dragging your rifle through the sand or mud.
Also, at the bottom of the ejection well, you can add on a "brass catcher" that will catch your fired brass. I have one and it works well. The aftermarket ones are cheaper than the FN one and work just as well. The brass catcher will hold slightly more than 50 rounds.
A pure democracy operates by direct majority vote of the people. When an issue is to be decided, the entire population votes on it; the majority wins and rules. A republic differs in that the general population elects representatives who then pass laws to govern the nation.
The P90 which the PS90 is built upon, was designed as a rear echelon firearm for tankers, truck drivers, cooks, and others as well as some limited front line duty. If it was used in the deserts of Iraq and Afg, lots of sand and mud there. But here in the states, we cherish our firearms like our women and would never drag them purposefully through the mud.

The "door" also acts as a bolt hold open device on the PS90.![]()
Thanks, guys! Appreciate all the great info!
So out of the SCAR 17S, FS2000, Five-seveN and PS90, is the PS90 the toughest of the bunch in terms of the one you can beat and abuse the most and it will keep on going?
The manual for the SCAR 17 mentioned that if you drop it in water it requires a thorough and immediate cleaning so at least the SCAR doesn't sound very forgiving when it comes to brutal conditions!
Any company that manufactures anything more complicated than a hammer is going to recommend cleaning, maintaining and lubing it's products any time they see any harder use than being in a display case. Even Colt and FN recommend a thorough cleaning of the M16/M4 family of weapons if they've been exposed to anything except air.
*yes, I'm using hyperbole*
*more surprising... I spelled it correctly, go figure*
Instead of paying money for a brass catcher, why not "roll your own"? Here's a photograph of my brass catcher, made from a velveteen bag that used to hold a bottle of Chivas Regal. I attached the bag using two of those adhesive-backed velcro "dots" that you can buy at crafts stores. One each of the velcro dots is attached to the bag and to the underside of the PS90. It works just fine and holds more than one magazine of fired brass. The adhesive does tend to separate from the cloth after awhile and thus needs to be replaced every now and then.
