    PS 90 in CA Q's

I'm researching the purchase of a PS90 here in CA. New to the model, the round and haven't shot rifles in many many years so pardon if this is rookie stuff.
With the CA laws overlaying the federal laws, I am under the impression that to be civilian compliant, the PS90 is sold with an 'extended stock' to meet the minimum rifle length (separate from barrel length) requirement here in CA. Not sure if I am correct here but the pics I've seen of such a modded 90 really muddies an otherwise brilliant design. So, is all of this true? Or can one simply purchase the stock model with a 10 round magazine and some form of mag release bullet button equivalent (card slide or such) provided by the manufacturer or FFL?
Alternatively, if an extended length is required, is it possible to use a longer barrel rather than a longer stock?
Again, be kind to the newbie here. Any CA-related info would be appreciated. If someone has a reference to a PS90 dealer in the Bay Area, that would be great too.
    Thx,
    B

    Welcome to the forums.

There are several CA members here that can better guide you than I can. Someone will chime in soon.

A pure democracy operates by direct majority vote of the people. When an issue is to be decided, the entire population votes on it; the majority wins and rules. A republic differs in that the general population elects representatives who then pass laws to govern the nation.

Can't help with a dealer up North, but the length has to be 30 inches or longer as per California law. Because the barrel length is legal you can lengthen the barrel with a fake suppressor, add to the stock as you mentioned, or a combination of the two. I think someone sells an eighteen inch barrel you can swap out, but it's not gonna get you to the 30 in. minimum and heard the stock barrel is really on there tight. You still need a bullet button and only 10 rounds mags here in Cal.

    Welcome to the forum B!ngo.
I am in Cali and have a PS90.
There are 2 modifications that you must have in order to make the gun CA legal:
1- Magazine release. As you have noted in your OP, a Credit Card or similar plastic card is to be used for the magazine release. It's awkward at first, but now I can change magazines almost as fast as regular PS-90 owner can
2- Extended length: the overall length of the weapon must be 30 inches or over. What I have on mine is a shroud that looks like a fake supressor. I did not modify the barrel in any way, and the shroud does not change or interfere with the operation of the gun.
Of course, you must also have reduced capacity magazines. 10 rounds max.

The barrel shroud I have on mine is the MFI:

From what I have seen they just add additional length to the flash suppressor making the barrel ~18" for an OAL of 30. I may be wrong though.

    Edited to remove redundant wording.
Nothing good can ever come from staying with normal people.

Never mention "fash supressor" in California.
That's considered an evil feature by our overlords in Sacramento
What we have at the end of the barrel is a muzzle brake, not a flash supressor, and we do not mess with it, the barrel shroud slips on top of it.
