The metal tab in the rear of the hammer pack is a drop safety device in the event of a muzzle end drop. Once the metal tab is tilted forward (muzzle end drop) the sear movement is blocked and the hammer can not fall.
Butt-end drop protection is provided by the bolt actually opening and sliding over the hammer pack. It may cycle another round, but no discharge occurs.
Anyway, that's my take on the planned drop protection of the ps90.

Please don't go there. All you'll do is get another thread locked.

    A. Forward safety sear. not necessary.

    B. Hammer

    C. Rear sear

    D. Disconnector.

From my understanding of the safety sear is it's purpose is to keep the hammer from firing when the breach is open.....isn't it? That's why there is the little groove under the moving parts group for the little detent on the safety sear to fit into.
