I am now contemplating replacing the PWS brake. That sucker is just plain loud, even for the shooter. It left my ears ringing and my sinuses tingling. I think I may switch to a vortex. That is what all my AR's wear and It has never presented a problem.

Have an AAC Blackout on mine and no issues, shot near 1" group at 100 meters with a 553 Eotech.

Shot a SCAR today with the AAC blackout flash hider in place of the PWS FSC-556 muzzle brake. There was still very little recoil but it was noticeably more jumpy as far as muzzle hop was concerned.

I have a Surefire MB556k on mine and love it. It has the same or better muzzle control then the PWS556 but its not as loud

    I'm sure they're gone now...

Hey Everyone! New to the forum and a new SCAR 16s owner!
I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to modifications and such so please bear with me on this.

So from what I've read and heard (from a friend) who have the SCAR 16s, that with the current muzzle brake/ compensator/ flash hider on it seems to be quite "loud" or maybe "concussive" to both shooter and people standing near the shooter. I guess lots of folks are swapping out their muzzle brake/ compensator/ flash hider. I'm looking at either the Blackout 18t or standard A2 Birdcage.

What I want to know is:

    1. Is it easy to remove and install the new muzzle brake/ compensator/ flash hider?

    2. What tools will I need?

    3. Are there any other items I will need with the muzzle brake/ compensator/ flash hider? I noticed that sites selling the items also mention a crush washer or shims?

    4. Any recommendations between the Blackout 18t or A2 Birdcage or any other suggestions? Essentially I am looking for something that isn't loud/concussive.

I will only comment on the Flash Hider. If you ever plan on using a suppressor, I would recommend the Blackout 51 Tooth as that is the mount that AAC recommends over the old 18 tooth. Their newer designed suppressors all use either the ratchet 51 tooth or the MITER type mounts
