I posted about this in another forum so some of you guys may have read about this already but I got my new FDE SCAR 16S today and I removed the shipping sticker from the upper receiver.
There was quite a bit of adhesive still on the rifle so I removed it with some lacquer thinner. But even with all of the adhesive gone this mark was still there (see pic). The mark wasn't captured that well with my old and crappy camera and its kind of hard to photograph anyways because the flash but in-person it looks a lot more obvious.
I hit it with some acetone and Goo Gone and scrubbed it pretty good but that didn't do anything to it.
The only thing I can think of was this rifle sat on a gunrack in some gunstore for a couple months and the sun "bleached" the anodizing on the upper receiver and the part under the foil sticker was masked off and stayed dark.
However my serial # starts with "15***" as you can see so it should be a later model so it couldn't have been sitting anywhere for very long. Also according to who I bought it from (A&A Arsenal) it "shipped from a warehouse" so its impossible that it sat out anywhere.
Not a big deal, I know, but it looks pretty weird in person and might as well be a blemish on the finish of a perfectly good rifle I paid full retail for.
Anyone else notice this on their rifle after you removed the shipping sticker?

Looks okay even with the mark. I see this topic on other forums to. Maybe You should sell it if the removal of a sticker has "ruined" it for You.
Ultimately. We have to just enjoy our guns. Though not "perfect" to us.

My sticker also left a mark.
I don't ever notice it, but a couple of times when others have looked at it they have asked why it looks that way.
Seems like they could put it somewhere that doesn't leave the mark to resolve the issue.
I like a good scar on a firearm that's earned, but don't like ones that aren't earned by me.

Mine did the same thing. Seems to fade between cleanings. Just when I think its bout gone, I do a minor oil rub down and BOOM,,,,, there it is.
No biggie, sounds like their all going to have that mark.
This is exactly how I feel about my firearms too.Originally Posted by joshua79109
Your guys posts make me feel a little better though, I was hoping to read that my rifle wasn't the only one that had it.
I really just wanted to take that dang sticker off though. I figured after a couple weeks of racking the charging handle and tossing the gun around it'd get all ratty anyways and start coming off on its own but it was actually on there pretty good.
Everyone hates the sticker.
Reason mine is staying on is. Other than the gay white part.
ALL the weapons in my unit are having the same barcode type hard decals adhered to them on return from reset( post-deployment maintnance) after deployments.
EVERY weapon in my arms room(I'm the Armorer) has one.
Kinda Mil Spec to me....lol
Matches my ACOG with barcode decal, and my IR laser, and light. All have similar MIL type bar-codes.
Looks official.
nuff said. my opin.

In hindsight. Re-reading my post. I see where someone whom quickly peruses posts could read it other than it was intended. But this so often happens on forums. Wouldn't You agree?
If I hadn't been a "n00b", and You had more than a few good running conversations with me, You may have seen fit to feel differently about my post. Feeling fairly decent this evening. I will take this as a welcome brief from You Sir, and not declare where to place your head. LOL.
And I hope You will eventually see that though I am excitable as well at times. I by-no-means would want to cause any to be un-comfortable, or to feel my opinion is any more valuable than anothers.
In Closing. I am here to enjoy the wealth of knowledge You all have on these fine FN products. Enjoy!

I wonder if leaving the sticker on over a long period of time will just make things worse?
I used to own a couple HK91's and I'm trying to imagine what my SCAR will be like when it hits it's 30th birthday like the 91's I owned. Can't imagine something like a sticker would have held up well over all those years. When it eventually fell off or got scratched off I'll bet the area under it would look even darker than it does now. Maybe I'll have been glad I peeled it off early and let the anodizing "catch up" to the rest of the rifle.
Is that the barcode sticker FN pts on its guns?
I still have mine on my PS90 stock. I never bothered to take it off.
