    Scar16s Vs. Sig556 Vs. ACR

    The Sig556, Scar16s & ACR.. Any one with Pro's vs. Con's ?

P.S~ please try to avoid common pros/cons or answers. Example- Get the latest & greatest band wagon, buy um' all or cost & weight factors. I know what they both cost, I don't care about the weight & cant afford both or I wouldn't be asking one VS. the other. lol. Reliability & dependability are my biggest deciding factors. Thanks for your time those who reply.

I own a SCAR, and love it for the weight, balance, lithe profile, and ergonomics.

That being said, I've used a friends ACR the last couple range days, and I like it also. I like that Remington/BM will support the ACR with accessories and barrel/caliber options. That is definitely not in the SCAR's future. I'll never sell my SCAR, but I'll be getting an ACR, a lot of accessories and play with it more.

I have had everything in your poll, except the ACR. I had a SIG 556 when it came out...with the canted rails. It also would not hold zero, even after several trips back to SIG ( which was customer service nightmare). Second 556 had carrier tilt issues and overall had worse fit and finish then the first. I got rid of both. The 556 rifle is one I would like IF Sig used anything close to the original QC for the 55x models. When you add in the cheap worthless accessories, it looks like SIG decided to take the McDonald's Happy Meal approach to an Assault Rifle.

I have a SCAR 16s and love it. The rifle looks bulky and heavy until you handle it, then you realize how good it is. The ergonomics for me are excellent (and very similar to my AR15s, so no major switchs in manual of arms..except the charging handle). I ran it through a week long Tactical Firearms Instructor course with no issues and great results!

I have handled an ACR several times, never shot one yet. I am really interested in the ergos of this rifle but right now I want to wait and see more reviews and range reports. The front end is heavy. I really noticed it after shouldering and doing some movements with the ACR and then switching to my SCAR (I was at the shop getting an AAC Blockout put on the SCAR). According to some internet/erronet reports the Remington version is going to be a lot different than the Bushmaster rifles (take with several grains of salt as there are no pictures or specifics that I am aware of). The big difference for me was that the SCAR 16s was extensively tested and used by SOCOM whereas the ACR hasn't seen any testing. Also I know that Bushmaster has promised a bunch of accessories and aftermarket items but has anyone seen those yet? Any 1/7 barrels? I know SIG promised all kinds of neat stuff for the 250 pistols and never really delivered.

Being an owner of both a 16s and a 556ER it's really a no-brainer: the SCAR clearly wins on quality, reliability and accuracy right out of the box. I've handled the ACR at the last SHOT show and it felt even more front-heavy than my Sig. I don't like the fact that they decided to attach the barrel wrench on the freaking barrel (probably adds a good pound to the weight). I like to keep my tools where they belong - in the tool box. I mean how many times are you as a civilian shooter are gonna change the barrel in an outing? And even if you do, wouldn't you do it BEFORE you left your house? I'd rather grab another complete rifle than fiddle with all that barrel swapping non-sense.

Of the three, SCAR. I won't go near the ACR. Had three 556 rifles and with the SCAR's I bought, I so no use in keeping the Sig rifles.

ACR will not be around long enough for me to buy one. Kinda like the Beretta AR70.

    ...just my two cents.

I own a 556 SWAT Patrol. It has the carbine length quad rail vs. the full length rail on the regular SWAT. Not as front heavy. It's not fully ambi and came with a diopter rear sight, which I took off to accomodate a 3X magnifier. It lacks a case deflector so there is a blemish developing at the rear of the ejection port (I like it). Speaking of ejection, jeesh! 12 feet to 2 o'clock. Can't reload 'cause it munches the brass coming out. It's my main shooter. I beat it up. Shoot thousands of rounds through it between cleanings and I let everyone use it. It's never failed. I keep it ready for home defense.

I also own a SCAR. It's perfect, except the charging handle. Only trusted friends can touch it and I keep it on the right side of my safe with my collectable Superposed shotguns. I'm ashamed that I baby it so, but it's a keeper, not a beater...

I bought a scar and it had no accuracy(most likely a bad barrel),traded it for an acr and that thing is a tack driver.I'm very happy with it.
    You can't have enough ammo.

I had an ACR and it shot groups worse than my Remington 870 with #4 bird shot.

I thought it was worth a try but it couldn't hold my SCAR's jockstrap, so it's gone like the dinosaurs.

Posts like this do absolutely nothing but fan a flame. Without any proof, it NEVER happened.

You mentioned having a SCAR that shot to the left or right, but you never mentioned group size. Also, you were on meds at the time. After that, you never followed up. Now you come back with this?

I have a SCAR and an ACR, (not a SIG)

I like both rifles for different reasons. Neither rifle is the perfect end all. Both have good and bad points.

Positives: to many to mention for both. Both have been on par with each other in the accuracy with the crap ammo I practice with.

    Negatives:
ACR: It's heavy for its class, has had some teething issues out of the gate.

SCAR: Charging handle limits where I can put my Eotech in it's current configuration. Wish the side handguard rails were 1 panel longer on each side. Butt stock lil' flimsy compared to ACR

Now, if I had to run outta the house TODAY and grab a rifle on the way out, it would be my SCAR w/the Eotech on it. (more time behind it,) With that said, If I could get a lighter barrel for the ACR and some more time behind it,,,,,,,,

I think you have to ask yourself, "What am I really going to do with this rifle?" If you have a chance, handle all 3 and fire them if possible. Figure out what features of each system will serve your needs. Don't know the price of the Sig, but the other two are a SIZEABLE investments.

Good luck with your search, sometimes thats half the FUN!!
