Looks like they will be buying the 17's but not the 16's. Not a big enough advantage over the M4 to justify the budget according to the article.
^^^ KING OF BATTLE!! maybe all the FA units should receive the SCAR L's..
um...thanks for the news, but it's really old news. that article you posted is 2 months old.Originally Posted by B52U

What is interesting in this whole situation is that SOCOM has kept the rifle that did not complete their testing program. From what I understand, only the 16 went through the competition trials. I figure at some point someone is going to challenge the 17 based on those grounds.
May God grant us the wisdom to discover the right, the will to choose it, and the strength to make it endure.

It really doesn't seem too practical to replace the M4 to me anyway. I mean the system isn't even 20 years old and, although I am not up to date on such things, I haven't heard of many issues with it recently I don't know if you guys have? The M16.. yeah replace that.. and the older squad automatics.. yeah I can understand that too.
Sheesh, sorry to waste your time or offend your insight into current events. I saw some rehashed discussion on this on Defense Tech about how FN was supposedly refuting the claims of this original article. I tried to find it, but only found the original article. I hadn't seen any discussion on this topic here in this forum so I thought I would start one just based on my own interest in the subject.Originally Posted by prefetch
