My SCAR 16 - Featureless Build

I live in California and I finally converted my California neutered SCAR into a featureless build. I blocked the stock, includes pre-ban mags, and I did my research on the PWS muzzle break not being considered a flash hider. I talked to a DOJ agent and told him exactly what I was doing and he gave me his advice on making it legal. Please chime in and let me know if there's anything I missed.

BTW I spend a lot of time on this forum reading, thanks for all the great content from everyone.

Always makes me cringe to see a neutered gun.

The title said featureless, so I was thinking it was going to be a SCAR without optics or any add-on's :-D

Glad you got your SCAR legal :?

Looks like it underwent a Addagriptome......kinda what women do to become men. Oh yeah, thats an Addadictome. Sorry. Your grip is atrocious.

I have used the Surefire break and it really good, I have also used the BattleComp 1.0 and it too is a great break but I haven't used the PWS TTO.

I liked the BattleComp just a little more than the Surefire.
The BattleComp is California legal, if you want to look at them here is a link.

It drives me nuts to see what law abiding gun owners in Kalifornia have to put up with! That idiocy has nothing to do with keeping anyone safe. All it serves is for commie politicians th have a good laugh giay the thao nam...

There are jobs in other states that respect the 2nd Amendment. Sorry you have to deal with that...

I appreciate the sentiment. There's just too many tree hugging hippies here to overcome our absurd gun laws.

I'm sorry, but that MonsterMan grip is simply hideous. I'd rather put up with a bullet button and keep the SCAR's original aesthetics. Have you checked out the Raddlock for the SCAR? It can be converted to OE mag release in seconds.

To the OP:

First, never trust the DOJ. Those idiots have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Calguns is your resource for information. Use the flowcharts. The three worst sources for gun legal advice, in order, are cops, gun dealers, and the DOJ.

Second, make sure the stock cannot fold OR telescope.

I think it's great you have gone featureless. BB builds are so restrictive. It cracks me up how most people care about the look of a rifle, over how well it functions. Good for you.

And how is not being able to use your thumb functional?
I run a featureless and though you have to change the way you do some things, like flip on the safety, it works just fine.
To each his own, I guess. Personally, If I can't grip a rifle the way it was intended I can't fire it the way it was intended. I can train myself to eject a magazine with a bullet button in just a second or two. I can't train myself to grip a rifle without the use of my thumb.

The bigger atrocity here is the fact that we're even having this conversation, just because some liberal has deluded himself into thinking this somehow makes his family safer. Reducing gun violence by restricting law abiding citizens is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it harder for sober drivers to obtain automobiles. Rant out.

I'm on your side and I agree with you, but it is California and I do have a SCAR in this State. Slowly but surely common sense will prevail in this State.

This is not only my competition rifle but it is my SHTF rifle. I plan on purchasing a exact duplicate of it as a parts rifle. Even though the Solar Tactical grip looks dumb, if laws in CA change or SHTF I can take the grip off in about 60 seconds. I trained with both bullet button and detachable and nothing matches the speed of a detachable mag, even with the BB fingers that I've used before.

Regarding installation of the Radlock, sounds like you may have experience, do you know the size of the screw driver(bit) used for the set screw for the Selector switch? Trying to not buy a whole set to get the one bit I need.
As a noob, am I missing any stickys .or previous threads that might list the size and type of tools used in working on various FN's?

For the FN 16s
Selector Switch set screw ......................Slotted head size ?
Stock hinge pin......................................size punch?
Receiver screw......................................
Lower rail screw....................................
barrel extension screw...........................
butt plate screw.....................................

hmmm looks like a whole set might be needed and a list of FN 16S specific tools might be longer than I thought. I wouldn't mind having a dedicated tool kit for the SCAR 16S. I guess I will have to figure out how many tools that might be first. But right now I only need the Selector switch fixing screw size. The smallest screwdrivers I have been able to find is a .12

@Hank,

I went with the Prince50 style button, which is basically the catch, spring and screw. Installing it is easy, but you are going to need a 1/16 punch for the roll pin on the standard mag release button. Converting it to normal will take about 2 minutes, mainly because the roll pin is so small to line up quickly.

Also, I have Magpul's Selector switch, a nice improvement over stock.
