the two scars i had i sent both back unfired. they replaced both. so it must have been a problem.
Spoke with FN this morning and they want my new unfired rifle sent back to them. FN told me to work with my dealer to ship it back, but my dealer basically told me to do it myself. I thought my dealer would be taking a more active role, but I got the impression they really don't want to be involved, oh well...
My PWS comp was replaced with a Surefire hider w/Rocksett - I supposed it shouldn't be a problem for FN to swap if they replaced the rifle.
Did FN provide you a shipping label or did you pay out of pocket to ship?
Did you simply ship it back in the cardboard SCAR box or did you add an outer box for more protection?

Just curious, the magnitude of my barrel cant relative to the receiver is 0.72 degrees or 42 MOA. Is this within the limits of the front sight windage adjustment (and windage adjustment limits of optics in general)?
A pure democracy operates by direct majority vote of the people. When an issue is to be decided, the entire population votes on it; the majority wins and rules. A republic differs in that the general population elects representatives who then pass laws to govern the nation.
I had the same problem with the one I bought at the end of 2010. FN replaced the rifle, and paid shipping both ways.
I've got a bit of cant on my 17. However, it's still a 1ish MOA gun w/decent GI Ball ammo, and the Bbl still FF even w/Branham Rails installed - so I'm not worrying about it. As for barrel nut(s) torque and them coming loose - upon removing the barrel to install the Branham rails, I blue lock-tighted the mounting nuts when I re-installed the barrel = "set it and forget it." They have not come loose, nor do I anticipate they will... I don't plan on swapping the barrel(s) on this rifle, even w/the anticipated barrels on the horizon. A .308/7.62 NATO barrel shorter than 16" is more or less an uber 7.62X39... SCREW THAT!!! - I want my full-powered 7.62.
GTG!
Canted barrels? LOL And I thought only cheap AK's had that problem. So it this still a problem yet, when researching this gun and having friends and relatives who own scars Ive never come across this problem anywhere, mainly just this website. Is it a wide spread problem? Got one on order. But when I order if anything is out of whack I just refuse the transfer. So is it just the barrel being off centered like in the picture? Also are there anything else to look for to see a cant problem or any other problems in general? Ive seen the SCAR 17 fix. So how much of a cant would be considered a transfer refuse? What I mean is are they all really just installed off or are there really canted barrels and cant be home fixed and or need to be sent back?

I purchased my SCAR 16 on 2/22/12; S/N LC176XX. At the time I purchased the rifle, I didn't know anything about them having this issue until reading about it here. I looked at my rifle, fully expecting to not find anything wrong, but sure enough the barrel was canted. It wasn't as bad as those in the pictures from this post, but it was visually obvious none the less. I called FN the next day and they told me to send it in. FN received it on 3/26/12 but it wasn't in the system until 3/28/12--my status says they haven't started on it yet but I'm hopeful to find something out soon.
While at another local gun shop the other day, out of curiousity I asked to look at one they had in the rack and it was also canted--the serial number wasn't too far out from mine.
