Hi folks,
I've been eyeing up a few of the SCAR's for sale, and my problem is I live in a ridiculous state - CA. I have to have the stock locked, and a bullet button.
do any of you guys know an FFL I could have a SCAR sent to, and have them install the bullet button and lock the stock, THEN send it to my FFL in CA?
I see some terrific for-sale opportunities on the boards, but I'm stuck since most of you guys selling your rifles don't need to worry aobut the bb or stock.
Thx,
Chib

Depending on where you are in the Kahli'Stan, Bullseye in San Rafael (and the East Bay as well) can set you up. They also have a store in Reno, NV, have them sent there, "KahliFornicate" them then send them into the state. They're working on finding a 17s for me right now, and have said that the 16's are no problem...

You didn't reveal your general location, but Canyon Sports in Martinez is where I bought my SCAR and of course it was Pelosifornia legal at purchase.

I and many others had no problem getting an FN SCAR here in California. You know many of us actually figured it out ourselves, as ridiculous as that must sound. Perhaps if you explored with as much energy as it took to diss the state you live in you would have figured that out.Originally Posted by chiburi

You see in this world there's two kinds of people my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig?
no worries - I preferred to save time, ask the experts, and get on with other things

As far as dissing California: There are lots of reasons to be disrespectful of California. The natural beauty and climate are not on that list as well as many fine people that live there.
Extreme bureaucracy that stifles everything to do with firearms is one good reason that many people, including some current residents and past residents, like me, diss California.
I lived in the same county that you live in and among my friends there, there is not a single person that feels like California going in the right direction – too much irresponsible spending and way too much irresponsible regulation.
I was there for the assault weapons ban. I had some items in long term storage, in 1990 I returned to smuggle my own guns out of the un-free state of California, hoping, along the way to the Nevada state line, that I would not be stopped and arrested for a FELONY - I have never forgotten that feeling.
Recently, I sold a SCAR 16 I listed on Sturmgewhr to a fellow in the L.A. area not knowing what the laws in the great state of California have morphed into over the years. I am not a dealer, I am a private owner, and know I needed to ship it to a FFL dealer where the weapon would be transferred to the buyer, no problem. But when I contacted the FFL dealer there, he told me I needed a approval from California's Department of Justice to ship the weapon into California and a failure to gain approval would result in FELONY charges against me by the good state of California that I formally loved.
Being away from California and being a private owner it is reasonable that I would not have known of this regulation if I had not happened to take the time to call the FFL dealer there to have personal contact before I shipped.
California is bankrupt, too much party spending by your state government (let the good times roll!), but I have no doubt California would prosecute me, to the enth degree possible if I screwed up and they found out.
I have more items from my collection I am selling and as a result of this above experience, I have a new policy: No sales to California. You will also note gun and accessory advertisements that note the same policy.
I will protect myself and my family from unreasonable laws of that state that I become subject to by shipping things there.
It is not to diss the place I so loved living in. I no longer feel free to visit because California has a black veil over it, in my view. California is tainted. It is not to diss any single person except the politicians and those of your state whom support them.
California is deprived of revenue every time someone from the free states does not ship or support merchants in that state. By doing this they protect their businesses, themselves and their families and do not add suppport to a system that is objectionable.
I hope things turn around for your state - honestly, I do.
Good luck to you and I am glad that California lets the SCAR in - they are great rifles!
