    FN SCAR Bolt Disassembly

As I was dutifully cleaning and inspecting some of the weapons in the safe the other day I pull out the 16s for a cleaning. I disassemble the weapon and proceed to tackle the most difficult cleaning job, the piston. After completing the upper and lower cleaning I turned my attention to the bolt and carrier. The bolt itself had gotten somewhat filthy given the wolf ammo a friend had shot through it. So i decide to drive out the extractor retaining pin...this of course because I cant pay attention to simple instructional videos who tell not to disassemble the BCG further. The extractor comes out and so does the pin, along with an ungodly small retaining clip which presents my with an almost insurmountable re-assembly problem. My question is HOW does one replace the clip into the pin after the bolt is assembled, I cant image this is possible without a special tool. Any help would be greatly appreciated as now that Mr Bob has left FN CS i would rather not send it in.

    1) Don't shoot that crap through the gun.

    2) Is the retainer pin damaged?
    SONYtec thanked this.

Yeah i figured, wolf jams in every 5.56 gun ive ever fired it in. The pin wasn't damaged it was just send across the room and being unbelievably small will likely never be found again. I sent the gun in to FN so hopefully they'll install a new one without having to replace the whole bolt assembly.

You need the C-clip on the pin. That's what keeps the pin from falling out.
