New guy with SCAR16

I just wanted to say thanks to everybody for all the valuable information I got from reading this forum before I decided that the SCAR was for me. There are some really knowledgeable people here who contribute a lot to this forum and make it a great place to learn from.

Pics of my 16s, i shot if for the first time today and was very impressed with the accuracy i got out of it.





One additional question, with PMags , I was unable to charge the handle with a loaded mag in, and the bolt in the open or back position. I had to go to the bolt catch. I did not have the problem with USGI mags.

Any solution to this issue?

Congrats on the SCAR and welcome to FNF.

If the magazine is a problem, stop using it.

Edit:

iiirc, some guys were saying you can actually load more than 30 rounds in them. Maybe you over-stuffed them?

Thanks for the kind welcome Sarge. I was only loading 5 rounds at a time due to range rules, and it happened with 3 pmags I brought and not with the USGI ones. I have not heard about this happening before.

I too had an issue with my PMAGS, mod'd them like some on the forum suggested, worked fine. Read of a few members on the forum who had purchased the Lancer L5 Advanced Warfighter Magazine (AWM), bought 4 of them and have had no problems. Did you check this thread, Check all your mags, especially PMAGS, but check all mags!!, on magazine issues?

How do you like the Micro red dot?

I did not see that, thanks for the link. Just like shown in those pictures, my PMags are forcing the bolt catch up and I am not able to release the bolt via the the charging handle.

I like the Micro, I own 4 altogether. I have a 2 MOA on order and really want to try it versus the standard 4 MOA dot. I also want to see if it is better when using the magnifier. The 4 MOA dot is not clear but rather stretched and distorted through the Aimpoint 3x Magnifier.

ETA: Am i to understand there are no modifications necessary to the L5 AWM magazines? Someone in the other thread said that they present the same issue as well.

From the few posts I saw, there was one guy who mentioned it was an issue on the older L5's and not the newer L5 AWM's. Guess the best thing to do is try one or two out and see how you like them.

I've supplied a pic of an empty L5 AWM seated in the lower, hope it helps give you an idea:

I found on my EOTech when the 3x is engaged I sometimes have to decrease the reticle intensity and it helps with clarity/distortion issues.

The original L5's that I own would not seat in a SCAR - period. The problem was the same thing that causes the pmag issues, except it was so extreme that bolt catch was pushed all the way up before the magazine was seated. Of course, the L5's can be modified just like the pmags to work. I have no experience with the new AWM.
