    Aimpoint location

Is there a preferable location for an Aimpoint type sight on a rifle? I have mine on my SCAR16.

I put my aimpoints and eotechs on the forward part of the upper receiver right before the quadrail on my ar's. I have a 1-4x on my scar.

I put mine right above the magwell, basically lining up the leading edge of the mount and the leading edge of the magwell. This is the same on my SCAR and AR:

I like mine forward. Leaves room for a magnifyer behind. Helps when shooting with both eyes open. Makes dot easier to see for those of us with presbyopteria.

And oh yea, flipping up the rear site sharpens up the dot......................dj

The rear site acts as a pinhole lens, that's why it sharpens the dot for you. "Old eyes."

    My eyes aren't getting better.

    Same here. No magnifiers though.

Slot 13 for me. You gotta try multiple locations to see what suits you best. I run magnifier on mine also...EoTech though.
