sounds like the mags are the problem
Today I took my new SCAR16s to the range and found out that my 10 new AR military mags will not work in the rifle. The bolt misses every second cartridge and I have to manually work the bolt to get a round in the chamber. The FN mag works just fine. I cannot see any difference between the FN mag and the AR mags. It doesn't make much sense for this rifle not to be able to use AR or M16 mags. I am sure the Special Forces don't just use FN mags. That would be really stupid. Can anyone tell me what to do to make these mags work? My p mags work fine and they have been modified to avoid the bolt hitting. The AR mags are open the same as the FN mags. Confused and concerned!!

Pull the follower and spring from the FN mag and swap it into one of the GI mags, if it fixes it, I would swap out the GI followers for MagPul followers.
The feed lips and springs in the GI mags could be bad but I'd try swapping in the FN parts into the GI mags first to help narrow down the problem.

While I have no advice on this. I will say this is the one area that I don't like compared to my ACR. The SCAR is definitely mag (follower, or whatever) sensitive. It won't use PMAGS without mods, it won't use thermolds either.
My ACR will use any mag I have flawlessly.
Still love my SCAR, but this is one area that bugs me....

FNH SCAR 17
FNH SLP Mk1
I had to cut a very small amount off of the left side, when looking from the rear of the mag, to make my GI mags work.
I doubt that I will ever be in a situation where I will have to depend on my SCAR for life, but I sure would not choose to take a rifle into battle that has to have custom fitted magazines if you know what I mean. I will give all the suggestions a try and post what worked.
I'd like to see pictures of your magazines, please.

I am totally embarassed! When I installed the FN rail extension I lowered the gas regulator switch and never moved it back to the 12:00 postiton. What a stupid thing to do. Now that I have moved the switch to the correct position, the mags, all of them run just like they should. Sorry for all the effort by all of you and hopefully I won't make that mistake again. I feel quite stupid but I will get over it and I hope all of you will forgive me and not count me out in the future if I get up the nerve to make another post. I love my SCAR16s!
