SCAR 17S Recoil? - Compared to FNAR

Anyone used both the 17S and the FNAR that can comment on felt recoil?

    Just looking for a comparison.

    Thanks

The 17s is still vaporware in the civilian market aside from a few guns at shot. I dont know of anyone here thats shot the military one.

If I recall, Therm shot a 17, but I don't think he fired the FNAR. I've fired the FNAR and the 16S, but not the 17, yet.

I'll be meeting up with a buddy soon that has lots of time on the SCAR-H.

He's going to use my FNAR and try to compare, but by the time he uses the FNAR it will have been about 6 weeks since he last used the SCAR-H, so it might not be a good comparison.

If he feels like he can make a decent comparison I'll post back.

Frankly I dont think 7.62 has very much recoil period, especially out of tactical type rifles.

Have you fired a Galil AR, in 7.62?

It's in the design of the gun that gives the user the happy or the when it comes to recoil. Gas-gun or otherwise.

+1 ... as a previous owner of a 7.62/.308 Galil AR, I'll vouch for the Sgt's statement. Great weapon but not real shoulder friendly after even a moderate day at the range.

The M1A platform has a more manageable recoil than my Galil did, due to design.

I might be getting older but my shoulder is a little sore after shooting my SA SOCOM II in 308, so i would guess the SCAR 17 is going to let you know it is there.

I've sure been going back and forth as to whether I need to save up and get a SCAR-H or go ahead and get a FNAR...I'm leaning towards the FNAR for more practical/hunting purposes. I've never fired either one, but if there was a MAJOR difference in felt recoil then I might lean towards the SCAR...

What other benifits are there that make the SCAR a gun that will cost me over twice as much? I really want to be talked in to getting a SCAR, lol!!!

It looks, in youtube videos at least, to have a pretty fair deal more recoil than the 5.56 model, as one would expect. One option may be to put on a really good muzzle break on it, like the one on the 5.56 version to make it a non-issue.

Edited to add: Nevermind, it looks like they'll come that way from the factory. Recoil will be well managed...
