Shooting un suppressed in suppressed gas setting

I was just thinking..why wouldn't you shoot your rifle on the suppressed setting all the time? Wouldn't less gas mean less recoil, less wear on parts, longer life, easier on optics? And then if your scar started running sluggish, you could flip it to the regular setting for even more reliability when you need it? What are your thoughts? Will shooting the scar 17 in the suppressed setting without a suppressor lead to any potential problems? Thanks

It all depends on if the ammo you are shooting will reliably cycle the action on the suppressed setting. I believe that is really the only factor.

I agree! Last time at the range I went through 100 rounds in the suppressed setting without knowing..I did however feel the recoil was less, I was using german surplus 7.62

its a cyclic thing based on ammo only, Meaning some ammo may not cycle the action fast enough.

With that said I do it all the time and when the SCAR is FA it's really a joke to control.

Going to add some more data to this. Saw this thread awhile back and tried it out with different types of ammo. Cycled fine on the "suppressed" setting using GMM 168gr, XM80C and Remington CorLokt 150gr. BCG slapping around much less and more pleasant to shoot as a result.

If history is doomed to repeat itself that's cool with me. That means I can go to the hardware store and buy a Thompson. Oh and I want a dinosaur too.
