a lot of good suggestions. i hate doing things mickey mouse, but i'm trying making loops out of heavy-duty zip ties. these zip ties are tougher than i thought. i'll beat on them for a while and see how they hold up. i'd really like to find a simple way to use stainless steel cable to make these loops.

I looped a Blue Force Gear wire loop with the QD hole in it. Works great.

those loops look like a good idea. i'll give them a try. i am going to order two of the simple version (without the QD hole): one for the front sling mount point and one for the rear.

I would try taking a round file to the edges of the mash hooks.
Put more of a radius on them then you could even go as far as to take some 600 grit sand paper to finish them off.
Also, boat shops carry small ss shackles.
Find one with just the right size threaded pin on the shackle with enough room to slide a piece of vacume line over it as to protect the aluminum mount

A pure democracy operates by direct majority vote of the people. When an issue is to be decided, the entire population votes on it; the majority wins and rules. A republic differs in that the general population elects representatives who then pass laws to govern the nation.
