Gents,
New to the forum and appreciate all the info available here. Has anyone converted the DS Arms SA38 30 RD magazine to work in the SCAR 17? Can you convert just about any metal or plastic FAL mag to function fine in the SCAR 17?
A pure democracy operates by direct majority vote of the people. When an issue is to be decided, the entire population votes on it; the majority wins and rules. A republic differs in that the general population elects representatives who then pass laws to govern the nation.
just back from the range and my first two worked perfectly.. only not too consistent with one on the bolt catch. one that i didnt file the feed lips worked just fine as well. will cut down on fine tuning on my next 5. sadly forgot the cam but heading back out again this weekend with bro as camera man so i'll post up a vid on youtube this coming weekend.
hope thermold is reading this thread. i'd happily buy 20 on the spot if the price is close to the same as these fal mags.
and also.. this is done so quickly with just a file and dremel that it is almost ridiculous this aint already a production mag.
now all i need is a timney trigger... i luv those light single stages.

make sure to take your time on the hole, other than that should be no issues
also I am having great luck with steel modified Metric FAL mags using the same principle

Thermold has changed their mag design..... From what is listed on ctd. they now have extra ribs on them that will need to filed now. guess thermold wasn't listing or reading any info from us. Thankyou.
I just converted 3 of these mags, and all are working fine. Took about 20 min per mag using a dremel tool and file from a gerber tool, and a micrometer to measure the cuts.

Here is a link directly to the Thermold online retail site. They have a promo sale for these FAL mags goin on right now, 3-packs for 60 bucks but they come with a free mag-loader. Ended up being way cheaper for me since CTD was trying to charge me 38$ for single-option 2-day express shipping (Hawaii, go figure).
From what I understand, those are actually older versions, thermold changed the design to be rib-less so they will work with the kel-tec RFB.
Why doesn't thermold just modify their tooling and start pumping these out? you could even mold them tan or transparent and they would sell like hot cakes...
i hope your right because that was not the same pic used for the original listing on ctd when i ordered mine originally. scared myself into buying six more directly from thermold. either way the first 7 are working great. havent had the chance to take a cameraman with me tho but will be waiting since i just ordered one of those timney triggers.
