I haven't installed a Timney in a SCAR but have installed 100's of them in AR-15/10's. After looking at the design on the Timney website, I have to question why anyone would apply more than 10-20 in/lbs of torque on the base set screws? They are only there to put light tension on the trigger/hammer pivot pins to insure limited walkout/rotation.
I noticed there is no instruction .pdf on the website so I could not confirm parts but the AR triggers come with an extra pair of set screws to install AFTER the initial screws are snugged, to alleviate the initial screws from backing out; redundant set screw system instead of using Loc-Tite fastener locking agents. Does the Timney SCAR trigger come with 4 screws total or just 2? Inquiring minds want to know ....![]()

Yes, the SCAR Timney trigger does come with a total of 4 screws for the purpose you described.
I installed the Timney today and to get rid of the bowing of the lower with the set screws I cut out some shim stock and put it between the lower and the trigger.
by the way I tested the trigger it is 3.5 pounds
yes I know this camera sucks , but its what I had in the gun room

Good job
When I read about the bowing I was thinking the same thing, good to see it seems to have fixed the issue.
Been looking at trying the Timney in the near future for one of mine.

interesting that timney used an AR15 hammer spring, if one wanted a heavier hammer strike it is easy enough to change springs.

Adding a shim is a great idea because even if you still have some play and need to tighten the set screws, the pressure on the receiver would now be spread out over a huge area and wouldn't be an issue. Nice job; what thickness shim did you use?
will look tonight But i think it was 0015

OK, here are some FACTS that many may find interesting regarding the Timney vs. Geissele debate.
The Timney is a drop in "box" type trigger (according to represntative from Timney) and will be a 1 stage 3lb pull.
The Geissele is a SEMI CUSTOM (ie hand polished) 2 stage 4 lb.
I was at Geissele this weekend, met with John at their shop in Norristown PA. Best customer service ever!
just got the timney and installed it.. was actually fairly easy especially with the instructions with the pretty pictures lol... talk about one heck of a difference. for those who have not played with a light single stage trigger, be warned its like super easy to just touch and go off. just about like my old 1911. this gona make blasting so much funner and quicker. gona need a bigger grip than the bg17, any ideas, preferably no mod. now if only my new vepr 7.62x54r would show up i could have some real fun.
