Greetings All,
I recently shot some bore foam down my Scar barrel and this stuff expanded faster than the gut of a fat man at a buffet in Vegas. I noticed a bit excreted from the gas block. Should I be terribly concerned about this? I know the manual says don't lube those small holes on the gas block and I don't. The foam didn't come out of those holes but the one on the suppressor switch...
Thanks,

You want to remove the gas regulator (plug) as well as the piston and clean any residue that may be in the gas block, gas plug, or on the piston.
Rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs, along with a clean rag will suffice.

I honestly didn't know this method existed.Does it work better than a Boresnake and a "regular" cleaning? (I use a Boresnake/ clean after each range session.) -thanks
Make no mistake my friend. It isn't the revenge I'm after, it's the reckoning. http://www.youtube.com/user/Xendrius
Very well, mission accomplished.
The components were quite dirty, filthier than Joe Biden's mind after a night at Hooters...
BTW I just love this forum, job well done.
My method:
1. Ultrasonic Cleaner
2. Dry Components
3. Rubbing Alcohol
4. Butches Boreshine
5. Ultrasonic Cleaner
6. Dry Components
7. Rubbing Alcohol
8. Air Dry Components
9. Reassemble

Foaming bore cleaner is great but not recommended for piston guns if I remember right. I use it on my scout to clean out molybdenum fouling
I use bore foam all the time. It's great for gas guns, during the cleaning process I will plug the bore and force foam through the gas system. I use it in the M1, M1A, SCARs and AK's with never a problem. I blasted the M1 a few times after shooting Korean corrosive, and then left it overnight. Got every bit of copper and carbon out of it, no problem. If it bothers you, you can flush it out of the hard to reach areas with brake cleaner.
I use the stuff regularly, and chase it with brake/carb cleaner - works awesome and no problems.
I use it first-thing and let it set while I clean the rest of the rifle, taking my time, usually w/a cocktail or two... Use a bore brush, chase w/the carb cleaner, and some patches = perfecto!!! Simple, fast, easy, and super-clean...
Butches Bore Shine is my new favorite barrel cleaner. I've never seen anything as good in all my life.
