    New Scar 17S owner

    Greetings!
I picked up a Scar 17s recently that had been painted over, and wasnt really feeling the "camo" paint job it had...so I stripped it off. It was alot easier than I had imagined honestly..(I think I got a good deal: $2400 for rifle, 4 FDE FN mags, tango-down grip, and a magpul sling attachment point!!! ) I recently posted these pics on AR15.com too..
    Before:

    After:

I love the gun, and it is a sweet shooting rifle, but I hate my Magpul MBUS. The rifle did not have the FN BUIS when I bought it (it was still an awesome deal) and the MBUS was all I had handy. Well, Im looking to get rid of this darn thing, and get a proper BUIS....suggestions? I would like to put a Vortex PST 1-4x on this rifle in the near future, and wasn't sure that the scope would interfere with the BUIS. Would a stock FN BUIS work? If so anyone have an idea on where to find it? Any input would be appreciated.

Excellent job stripping it! You would never know it had been painted. Congrats on your new rifle!!!!
Contrary to popular belief, I know exactly what I'm doing.

What did you use to strip it? That came off incredibly well!

Well that looks great! Do you know what kind of paint was on it before you stripped it off / what did you use?

*edit - sorry samurai, I didn't see that you'd asked almost the same thing I had*

I really really like the stock FN irons. Your vortex PST 1-4x should clear rear FN BUIS if your mount's bore-center is 1.5" or higher. It'll be very close, but should still fit. Using a Larue LT-111 mount (1.5") on my scope with a 1.6" eyepiece diameter works fine, and the vortex site claims 1.63". That being said, eye relief is 4" on the vortex, so if it was slightly too tight, you could probably move it 1 notch forward without any issues of eye relief.
