I have 2 mags out of 34 that don't lock back the charging handle consistently.

Is your gun failing to lock back on a specific magazine or all of your mags?

Also are they factory FNH mags with the plastic baseplates?

Also check the gas valve position. If it's on the suppressed position (without a can) it could cause the rifle to short stroke a bit.

More than likely the magazine follower isn't engaging the bolt catch.

Buddy and I were at range with our 17s and he having this problem. Once he looks at his gas block, he stopped complaining.

what would a remedy be for that, or is it something to not really worry about, everything looks right, inspected it good under light, i only have 3 factory mags, the mags look a little scuffed like where its tried to catch

If you are running factory mags, it's likely the gas selector. Check the front of the gun, you want the selector to be set at 12 o'clock (left image), not to the side as in the right image. Also, what ammo are you running?
