I had a Leupold CQ/T (Close Quarters/Tactical) 1-3x14mm with an illuminated circle reticle. The illumination was great! I really liked the optic and it's integrated mount. The only reason I sold it is because I want an optic with more magnification for longer ranges. If you are just wanting an optic for home defense and out to 100 yards, then this might be a good optic to look into. Personally I would like an Aimpoint T2 Micro for close quarters, but to each his own. Good luck with your decision!

... as y'all can tell from my previous post.

I know a Chris near Boca that dives and would probably buy a 17S. Slim chance, I know.

FWIW the Chris I know may very well not revisit a thread in which he asked questions about his fantastic new SCAR.

Anyway, I'm gonna low crawl back to my lurker position.

I went with the VXR patrol 1.25-4 because of the weight, 11.5oz vs 16 plus oz for most others. My obsession with keeping the SCAR ultralight is I use it for hunting and didn't want to lug around a heavy rifle. I shot a buck last year and will take to the woods again this weekend. So far My leupold has handled the recoil without issue. Leupold has never disappointed me. 7.9 pound 308 wows me. God Bless AMERICA when I can walk the woods with the latest Rifle technology.

Not the VR-X but it is a Leupold.

When the Galil ACE .308 comes out, I will buy one and equip it with the VRX Patrol 1.25-4X. My view is that .308 battle rifles are for between zero and about 600-meters. The 4X is plenty good for the farther distance and the 1.25X is plenty good for close up.

    Troublesx10 thanked this.

I started out with a Leupold Mk 6 1-6x20 scope but it limited the groups i could shoot past 100 yards. So I switched it to a Leupold VX-III 30mm Long Range scope I had and have been very happy since.

I think your good with that scope. Anything else will cost you more $$$ this scope you can also put on anything you like in the future, say you decide you want more power. The firedot works for any rifle. I have one and enjoy the ability to switch it other platforms as it performs well. Inmo you can't go wrong.

    Hey Chris

My names Brett. My friend Chris (who lives in Boca, dives, pig hunts, shoots ARs, and dearly wants a SCAR17) had texted me to say he had a new toy... right before I saw your post!

Naturally, I mistakenly thought you might have been him.

Turns out the "new toy" was an ATV! Between you and I... The SCAR would have been a better choice!

How's your new toy working out?
