    New Optic - 1-6 Variable ?

Guys, I know this topic has been beaten down over and over.

I will be primarily using this optic in a run and gun (personal training sessions) semi close quarters scenario and "normal" range and will push out to a max of 500 yards. I've been watching/reading plenty but would rather get feedback from real life in-the-field experience. My budget is around $1,500.

Regarding the Vortex Razor HD Gen ii......I like what I see minus the weight.

I've seen some say that the JM-1 BDC reticle is not great for .308?

I appreciate any and all feedback.

I have the razor-- love it. Perfect for me. Clear and very easy to use.

I am pretty sure this is what will end up on my SCAR as well. I have the little brother Vortex Viper PST on my LMT AR and love it.

Check out primary arms they have a high end 1-6 and a high end 1-8 that gets good reviews. They offer cheaper versions as well, I am going to get the cheaper 1-8 version for one of my builds. I also like the trijicon 1-6 that someone else mentioned

I love my SWFA 1-6 tactical illuminated FFP because it is almost as good as a red dot at 1x.

Very clear and bright glass and appears to be practically unbreakable as adjustable scopes go.

But with my much abused old eyes, 6x only lets me identify the target out to maybe 60 yards, which is six times better than iron sights for me.

it is one thing to score hits on a target and another to identify with absolute certainty who or what the target is before scoring those hits.

And you know public land can be full of stupid people during hunting season...

    "See any deer last weekend?"

"Yea, I got a 6-point. I got to make stew with it cause the meat has a bad gamy taste. But the head looks good on the wall of my den."

    Appreciate the feedback!

What mount are you running with it?

I was looking at American Defense Manufacturing.

AMD make a solid mount at a decent price. I am using a number of them, Recon S, on my AR's. I much prefer them overLaRue mount I had.

I know I'll get beat up about the Burris, but I had 3 gun intentions when I got the Burris MTAC 1.5x6 for the Scar. Great low power red dot feel and acceptable range up to x6.

However, I have since moved it to a blackout gun and am in the market for a 4x16 Vortex because I want to start shooting it a little further.

I'm running the Primary Arms Platinum 1-8x on my 17S in an ADM Delta mount. I think it's quite literally the perfect optic setup for the 17S platform.

You've got to balance weight, performance, durability and quality. And the PA delivers pretty well on all of the above. The weight isn't bad at all for what you get, and the flexibility compared to my previous optic options (I've run 3x, 3.5x and 5x ACOGs on it, an ELCAN, and a Leupold 4-14).
