Vid of SCAR with high-cap magazine

    http://www.gunblast.com/SHOT_2010_0.htm

At the end of the vid somebody is shooting the SCAR with what looks like a high cap mag. (Maybe its the SCAR IAR)

Could be the IAR. Couldn't see it very well, but I have a hunch that that mag was made for the IAR contract/competition as originally requested by the Marines.

Looked to have a much thicker barrel than the normal scar as well.

Well, ISSC is known for the .22 Glock copy, so I would bet it's a rimfire. Oh, wait a sec., I mean "tactical rimfire".

How can a rimfire be tactical? That there's an oxymoron...

Well, it would be good for cheap training as long as the battery of arms is the same as the real deal (that is, if you have a SCAR). I know quite a few guys who would like 22 conversion for the majority of their 'tactical' rifles and pistols (which I don't think will happen for the SCAR for quite some time, so this is a decent alternative as long as the price isn't over $500.

The issue with the .22 conversions is the twist rate on the barrels. The rimfire likes a approx. 14 twist rate, whereas the centerfire guns have rates as quick as 1:8.

For casual plinking at man sized targets at 50 feet, it's one thing, but for anything simulating short range like kind of accuracy [100 yards], a conversion is a waste of moolah.

I'm not big on conversions. I'm less of a fan of "tactical rimfires".It reminds me of the 10/22 that weighs in a 12 lbs. because of the skin that somebody drapes them in. To me, it's kinda silly.

    Just my opinion.

    BTW, I own one GSG-5.
