The guys who took these pics were also testing muzzle velocity of each rifle and came up with some interesting results...
Check out the fragmentation range on the 13" Mk17. I didn't even know 7.62mm would fragment. Apparently 5.56mm is more effective close in and 7.62 only becomes more useful once both calibers are outside their frag threshold due to it's higher energy and bullet weight.The Chrono Project - Ramadi 2010
