I have both of these shotguns and definitely prefer the M4. Other than the speed and reliability, I also like the fact that M4 is much easier to clean compared to SLP.
I have seriously considered the M4 since about 2000 but even when I could have had one new for $700 I didn't jump. I revisited that last year vs an SLP and opted for the SLP being a better value, better trigger, higher capacity. I hate just not being able to have an extended tube and adjustable stock together unless I'm LEO/etc... I'm happy with the SLP, very much that I'll probably never consider an M4/1014-unless money is no object, which I highly doubt in this economy.

Could you elaborate on how the M4 is easier to clean than the SLP?Originally Posted by ahmed
Given that the SLP uses the Winchester X2 action which is faster than the M4s, how is the M4 faster for you?
The M4's have a chrome bore/chamber so that probably helps with cleaning. The Benelli website says it has a self cleaning/scraping piston as well. I don't see anything about there being a self cleaning/scraping effect to the SLP's system.
I just bought an SLP Tactical and can't wait to try it out, FN doesn't make junk so I know it will be reliable. My buddy has a conventional stock one and I love it.

I bought the SLP but the military uses the M4.
I think the SLP is a little more finicky about certain ammunition.
M2 a little cheaper than M4 and still an excellent weapon, I was considering both the M2 and the SLP, I bought the SLP, felt better than the M2.
