Hey guys! new guy here with a question. At my local gun store they have one but it comes with a rifled barrel instead of the smooth barrel. The owner wants to charge me another 100 dollars to order the smooth barrel but I thought he is out to make some money now( not a bad thing) but it threw up a red flag to me. What is the difference between both barrels and can the smooth barrel shoot slugs with the same accuracy as the rifled barrel? I'm peturbed on what to do because I really want this shotgun. Are there any big problems with its manufacturing processes? Any recalls or bad quality control? The guy wants 1200 for the new barrel but 1134 for the just the rifled barrel. Will mostly use it for tactical/home defense/ fun weekend outings with skeet. Any pointers will be appreciated. I know the price is 300 high but it is tax season and that is the only store I have seen in 4 states that has had one.
The smooth bore barrel can be used for bird shot, buckshot, and rifled slugs. The rifled barrel is used with sabot slugs. Unless you want a SLP only for sabot slugs (kind of pricey compared to rifled slugs), don't get the rifle barrel.
That being said, I've had excellent performance from my Mk1 for the past couple of years I've had it. I just ran it through a 4 day advanced tactical course the week before Christmas. It ran great and I was once again reminded that it was the right shotgun for me. I run an EOTech XPS2 on mine....wouldn't have it any other way.
I'm not aware of any recalls, production issues, etc.

Thank you for your reply. It has solidified my decision to pass on this gun store and find it somewhere else!
go to Grabagun.com FN SLP 12/22" BLK 9RD CANTLVR RS Online Gun Store and buy it the right way for much less.
Thanks for the link Andy! I bought my SLP before you posted but will definately look here to buy a gun first.
no problem I stumbled on that while searching for mine. I managed to get a local guy match the out the door price as ordering that one and paying transfer fees. I go to order mine on Saturday, I can't wait to get it.
