Anybody played with the gas adjustment? I have found the velocity spreads go down with the gas screw adjusted as closed as possible while allowing the action to cycle properly.
Just misunderstood most of the time!
Best load so far.
1) any old brass I can get.
2) 165 grain Hornady SST
3) 39 grain IMR 4895
4) CCI BR-2
I'm about to start working up loads with Hornady 168gr Amax. I'll post my results when I get them. I am really posting to report on my C.O.L. measurements. I measure 2.868 @ initial point of impact, and 2.865 seems to chamber better. I plan to reload to 2.865, does anyone see a reason to allow more headroom, i.e loading 2.860?Originally Posted by Sin City Shooter

You see in this world there's two kinds of people my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig?
Another great load, and cheap powder.

Hi- new guy from Idaho..
I'm mostly a long range shooter, but wanted something in .308 semi for a designated marksman role out to 1000Y & found a good deal on a very slightly used FN AR HB (w/ 6- 20 rd mags!).
In my load development so far, I am very pleased with the rifle being mostly under 1Moa & functioning flawlessly with everything!
So far the most accurate load has been 42.5 Varg. and a 168 Amax lit with a Wolf primer in once fired FGMM brass, fls, 2.84" oal. That gave me a great .262" 3 rd. group holding very HARD!
The rifle has a PWS-PRC brake & a Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10X44 on it- very nice to shoot. I am starting to develop a 178 gr Amax or hpbt loading to get out to 1000Y.
