Do you know if there are any differences between the 16" and 20" FNAR rifles other than the barrels? Are the gas ports the same size?
Are the impulse weights (don't know the name of it but the chunk of metal that the two operating plates attach to and which receives the impulse from the piston) the same?
I understand that these are technical questions and that I don't have much knowledge to offer in return but if you ever get a chance to check it out I'd be very grateful.
Thank you
Good question. I would imagine the inertia weights and gas systems are the same, but if someone with a 16" wants to get some specs I will do the same with the 20" and then you can compare.
I called FN (from Sweden!) and the very friendly person on the other end on the line told me that all of the parts beneath the handguard the 16" FNAR and the 20" FNAR are completely interchangable.
I just got an ad from Mississippi Auto Arms for the FNAR with the 20" heavy barrel (1 in stock). It's only $995. An absolute steal.
FN Herstal FNAR Type Rifle 20 fluted Barrel 3108929250 - 308 [3108929250] - $995.00 : Mississippi Auto Arms, Inc ::, Your Source for Saiga, AK47, AR15, Tromix, Glock, and SKS firearms and accessories I would snatch it up. I have the 16" barrel right now and love it. It is very accurate. The other questions you posed I really don't know the answer to. I almost want to buy this one and sell my 16" barrel. Mine came with 11 magazines due to a "shipping error" so let me know if you need any extra mags for it, or anyone else for that matter.
