Merry Christmas to everyone.
I love the look of my new FNAR. I believe it is the 20 inch heavy barrel version. I will love it even more when I get my new Swarovski Z5 scope mounted. My wife gave them to me for Christmas. A couple of quick questions on scope rings and ammo.
I have the Swarovski Z5 3.5-18X44M BT scope. Does anybody have a suggestion on the best mounting rings and what height. My understanding is that the lower the better but I am not quit sure how tall I need them to be to successfully mount the scope.
Second question is ammo. I have some Portuguese and German ammo and some Norinco 308 from the late 80s and early 90s still laying around. Just because it would be harder to get the Norinco and Portuguese ammo, I am thinking about buying newer ammo. Once this sucker is dialed in, I don’t ever want to switch ammo. I want good ammo that is accurate. I want to dial it in and buy several cases of this ammo. Any suggestion? This rifle will be used mainly to help with the hog problems we are having.
Thanks in advance for any help and again, Merry Christmas.
These rings will work. if your scope is long enough you can get away with lows but the brass being ejected may beat the hell out of the scope. I ran lows with my Leupold MK4 but I put that scope on my new 308 and bought a Wotac 44mm obj scope for the FNAR and I use medium rings.

Thank you, I don't have a good B&M store close so I will have to order online.Originally Posted by Sin City Shooter
Hey guys, I been serching rings and ammo on this site. Lots of good info.
I pulled up the Harris Bipods website. For those of you who use Harris, which model do you have and if you had to do over again which model would you get next time.
I don't have an FNAR, so I don't know if this height would work or not, but this is the one I'd get:

Notched legs are the way to go. The original one the legs don't have springs that drop them to the ground, but rather up to the lowest position (annoying IMO when trying to adjust them to the proper length).
I've use both, and the notched leg swivel one with a pod lock is the best way to go in my experience.

Ordered the Burris med rings and a Harris swivel 6 to 9 inch bipod with notched legs both from Midway.
First time ordering from Midway. They shipped my order the same day I ordered which is always a plus. My wife found a $10 off online code so I used 2 day UPS shipping to ensure that I have them for the long weekend.
Thanks for the help, hope to get a pic or two posted soon.
Not sure where you're at, but I'm in MI and Midway typically gets stuff to me in 2 days with normal shipping. They're one of the fastest shippers out there.

6-9 Harris with swivel is what I use. I shoot off of bags mostly but when I use a pod that is the one I use. You're good to go. I know a lot of people like those high rings but I just couldn't get a decent cheek weld with them.Originally Posted by SpikerAdams
