    FNAR Users Preferred Rifle Scope

A curiosity poll question, what is your preferred go to rifle scope for all duty work for your FNAR (25 yards to +400 yards)?

Mine is Primary Arms 4-14x44 First Focal Plane scope with ACSS reticle. Currently on another rifle, not on an FNAR yet.

The thing just works bloody great for the price.

Optic clarity is worth the price.

The ACSS reticle is a well designed BDC hybrid reticle that is kept "reasonably" simple when you read notes on the reticle. (Range estimation indicators for specific sized targets, windage, and also Mil-rad marks are also present).

Surprisingly, the reticle works really well for estimating range +300 yards for deer hunting as mentioned in the scope documentation.

As with all rifle variants and ammunition loads, the zero must be tested in real world conditions to get it set right to work with the reticle.

Here´s my goto solution in that aspect.

Vortex Optics - Razor HD Gen II 1-6x24 VMR-2<br />(MRAD)

    Running a combo of:
Ampoint T-1 for hunting in dense woodlands.
Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6x24 MRAD as an allround hunting scope
Vortex Viper PST 6-24 FFP MRAD for the range.
All nests in LaRue Tactical quick mounts which works like a charm.

I am running a Hawke 4-16X50 IR, it has the ballistic drop for 223/308 out to 600 yds. I don't have any experience with high end scopes, but of the budget priced scopes I've looked through the Hawke has excellent clarity.

Hi Havocsquad, there are some older threads on this forum about scope choices you might want to search for.

The best scope is always going to be a compromise. Choosing what is most important is, well, most important. If by duty work you mean the ability to quickly hit targets from 25 to 400 yards than the 4x14 you have in mind sounds pretty good. You might want a lower low power and can put up with a lower high power IMHO. However, since you have the Primary Arms ready to go I would use that first and then decide if you want something different.

For what it is worth I am happy with a Trijicon 3x9 Accupoint with the milldot reticle. It has just enough dots to range Silhouette rams at 500 meters without touching the knobs and works fine at all ranges down to 100 yards. Honestly I haven't shot it at less than 50 yards and that was when I was setting up the scope years ago, so not sure how well 3 power works at 25 yards.

Good luck and enjoy your FNAR. I know I do.

    Cap

How far have you gone out with this scope? I just got the FNAR and am looking for some glass to put on top. I just dropped some bucks on a Vortex Viper PST 624F1 EBR-2C MRAD for my Winchester 700 AAC SD

I am wondering how the glass is out around 800 meters on the Mueller. I heard that they are good scopes but I am concerned about the SFC. I prefer a FFP scope. Any info appreciated.

Yeah, I like some other scopes but $2,000 to $7,000 dumped on a scope is a bit much for me right now. If I was thirty years younger and had a real life......
