FNH USA maintains steady pricing and plentiful supply of 5.7x28mm ammunition despite demand

McLean, Va. (September 26, 2007) – A recent Associated Press story stated, because of the War on Terrorism and an increased demand for raw materials such as lead and copper, many police and sheriff’s departments are having difficulty finding an adequate supply of ammunition.
In fact, some departments have resorted to using paint balls for firing drills and reduced time on the range in order to conserve the ammunition they have; but that is not a scenario any range officer welcomes. “Using live rounds in police officer training is essential to feeling comfortable and competent with the use of firearms. question- is the commercially available new production 5.7x28 ammo actually made state side?

The 195 is made in Belgium. I think the 197 is made in the USA, although I have seen some boxes online that say Belgium as well.

Yeah, I have some of those Brown box ss197. For some stupid reason some of my local gun shops sell the brown box ss197 for a couple $ more than the blue/white box ss197

I recall both Fiocchi and FN producing SS197, so you will find them made in USA and Belgium.

So my biggest question about this new information is, will it help reduce the price of ammo?

Or does it mean, it will remain at the same price just become more available? While this information seems good, it doesn't really answer any questions.

I think it only means that ammo costs will remain the same. The cost isn't that bad if ya know where to look.

Fiocchi has already been producing SS197 for quite some time. It did not change the price. Since the manufacturer can restrict the quantity of ammunition available on the market (being the sole source), the price will not fluctuate much.
