I'm eager to see this thing come to the civilian market. Gas-piston system, hammer-forged chrome-lined barrel, the general quality that FNH is known for....there is a lot that separates this from the rest of the .308 semi-auto crowd.

Of course, I'll want to see want the final MSRP is. And I'm a little confused as to why FNH is sticking with a 1:12 twist rate, when most newer .308 bolt guns have realized the advantage lies with 1:11 or 1:10. But the 17s got rave reviews, despite the barrel twist rate...I assume that the Mk 20 should get similar praise.

Can someone explain to me the exact differences between this and the Mk 20? Besides longer barrel?

Barrel is also heavier and it's mounted via 6 screws instead of the normal 4 in the barrel extension. Elongated receiver, different trigger (not sure what exactly they're going to put in there - they originally had an adjustable 2-stage, but I've also heard rumors of the Geissele Super SCAR being used), stock is fixed with adjustments for pull length and comb height.

You can get a 20" barrel. Midwest Gun Works had some 20" barrels recently, but they are the same profile as the 16" barrels.

Good to know. I had seen the 20" barrels on Midwest's website; are those FN proprietary barrels or 3rd party?

Every time I hear something new about the Mk 20, I'm liking it more and more. Can't wait for this thing to hit the market.

No - I'm sure you'll be just fine to shoot it.
