I've been looking at the Trijicon RMR RM04 7 MOA and I admit it's partially due to the excellent botach pricing of $357.00 and free shipping!
However, is that a good choice for the FNP45 tactical?
It's a big amber dot, and it's self powered (no battery), and 7 MOA seems to be fine for out to the usable range of a 45. Am I missing something?
Botach had excellent pricing when I tried to order an LED model (RM07) but it wasn't in stock (found out AFTER I ordered) and I didn't want to wait...as for the RMR you are looking at...if amber works for you, the 7moa should be fine (I have two LED models, RM02 and RM07 of 6.5 and 8moa)...I think some are moving away from the fibre optic of the model you are talking about but they are still great sights and that price is nice...

<---- On 2/24/12, became tired of trying to have an ingenious quote!
Mike,
I ordered the same optic for my FNP-45 Tactical. I also ordered from Botach. I haven't ordered from them before. I have a Trijicon with an amber triangle on my LaRue 7.62 and its awesome. I love that its tritium and doesn't need a battery. I purposely avoided getting the LED or the red dot because I have a Burris FastFire II on another pistol and can't use it to shoot hunter orange targets because they blend together. I got the amber sight because it is a color most likely to contrast with targets or game while shooting. While the 3MOA is got for accuracy, 7MOA at close range ( 10 yards ) equals 1/10th 7 inches or a target roughly equal to .7 inches. So... this is theoretically a very small target for accuracy.
I have an RM04 on my FNP45Tac, and it is perfect. Works great, and I really like the 7 MOA dot. I have the Dual Illumination.
I originally ordered mine from Botach, but about 2 days after I ordered it, I got an email from them saying they just went into backorder on them. I canceled the order from Botach, and went through Optics Planet. I had my RM04 2 days later. (Not Botach's fault, they just sold out).
It is Botach's fault, they never have anything in stock. They also won't tell you it's not in stock until after you place your order.
That being said I bought the rm07 when it came out and couldn't be happier. Very fast, nice size, and the ability to turn it on or off is great. It also works really well with night vision.
Glad we're on the same pageBotach brings out the harsh typing in me.
I called them to order the rm07 actually and asked if they had it in stock. They told me the call center isn't at the physical warehouse and they couldn't tell me but were pretty sure they had them so I placed the order. Two days later I hadn't heard anything so I called and was told that they had never had them and were expecting the first shipment in a another week. I waited a week, and another, and another. I called again and was told they would be here the next week. I went on vacation and when I got back there was still no package. Called up again and was told that they had received them but when they ran my card it was declined and I should call my bank. I asked when this happend and why I didnt recieve a call and you could here her shrug over the phone. Called the bank and found out they had run my card but with a completly wrong expiration. Called Botach back and they said they were sold out of the first shipment but if I wanted they would be getting a new shipment next week. Needless to say I bought the sight elsewhere.
I like masochism as much as the next guy but I have my limits.
I got the email from them stating the backorder status, then I called them. They said that my card had not been charged yet. While I was on the phone with them, I was on Optics Planet's site, and they had the RM04's in stock (and had listed other models as being out of stock). I told Botach to cancel my order right then, and they did, no issues. Ordered from Optics Planet, and I was happy.
You're a smarter man then me. I now use rainier, skd, or militarywarfighter. 2 of the 3 have LEO discounts also.
