The internet has allowed a large number of Americans to hear the truth and discuss the gun issue without intervention by the MSM and editorial input. Many people have come to the conclusion that criminals will get guns no matter what laws we enact so an intelligent, free adult must take back responsibility for his/her own self-protection.

In addition, the free discussion facilitated by the internet has lead to a correct understanding of the second amendment by more people than had been the case for several decades. The supreme court would have had a difficult time pretending that the effectively total ban which was in effect in Washington DC was somehow allowable under the constitution as written.

Now I would like to see us get some of our rights back. Under the Heller and McDonald decisions California’s “assault weapons ban” should have been ripped to shreds. But the powers that be in that state maintain their own self-deluded view of the world and no challenge has made real headway. No gun restrictions were struck down as a result and even the DC ban has not really changed much in effect. This "victory" feels like more of an ornament than a prize.

I fear that even if Obama does not get a chance to sign any anti-gun legislation while in office when he reaches his lame duck phase - either later this year or in another four years - you will need a fork lift to move the number of anti-gun executive orders he will be enacting.
