This happened two years ago, but I see not much has changed since then.

The problem stemmed from these imported Air Soft guns not having orange tips. Customs contacted the ATF who confiscated the shipment. The media got involved (damn them medias) and we ended up with this retard agent making ridiculous claims. From what I've read the ATF went into CYA mode after this embarrassment, gave back half the Air Soft rifles, but kept the ones without orange tips.

Other Air Soft importers claim that they would refuse delivery of the guns without the orange tip. US Customs and Border Protection state that although Air Soft are not considered toys they are look-a-like guns that still require orange tips to be imported.

I thought the local Newsies did a pretty good job. The info-babe looked good and managed to say the word "gun" without it sounding like a curse word and their followup seemed supportive of the local business owner. Not too bad of reporting IMO.

I still don't see how the ATF can take an airsoft gun and make it a dangerous weapon other than useing it as a blunt force object.

I didn't catch the date of when this was ran, but if it was after news spread that the ATF was sending rifles to Mexico this seems like they were trying to divert attention or something like that. That agent is a moron.
