I got some minor problems with the 9/12 project.

First, I am not that religious, and God is not at the center of my life. What is more central to my life is being a moral person. Where do my sense of morals come from.... yeah, Commandments 1 - 10. Go figure. (And its thou shall not MURDER, rather than thou shall not KILL!

Second, the government over-rules some aspects of family life. What would you say to a family that is part of the 9/12 project who believe in honor killings?? You cant tell me a jihadist feels that god is not at the center of their life and that the koran over-rules civil government so that if their sister dates an infidel, the is no stopping an honor killing based on the 9/12 .........

The rest is all good.

The government should stay out of things as much as possible, but the limit is somewhere vague and honor killings (or killing for not believing in Allah, being gay, etc) is well beyond the limit.

I agree with you. I am not a believer, but I think most religious principals are sound and I follow most of them, I just don’t believe in god. If I had to describe myself I would be an Atheist, Buddhist, and a Pagan all rolled into one. The only difference is that I live my life for today and not the promise of the after life. But I have no problem in a person following their faith; just don’t try to convert me or force me to live by your standards.

I also feel government is far too big and involved in our lives. America has fallen far from the country it once was. Americans are soft and look for help in every facet of their lives instead of solving problems on their own; we are a weak 911 culture. We think we can make a phone call and our problems will be solved. Were did the pioneer/frontier culture go?

The pioneers got steam-rollered by the Nanny State. Why risk protecting yourself, your family, your neighbors when there are 'professionals' to do so. Why work harder than you colleagues when promotion depends on other things besides productivity and competence? Why take a risk when you have the State to care for you? Fall off a 50 ft ladder -- its not your fault youre a bozo, sue them to make it idiot proof. And on and on it goes. No wonder Europeans dont have enough kids to keep Western society going. Why bother, kids are expensive and a PIA, cant buy that new boat nor have time sailing it....
