Big surprise for me today. Wifey pays attention to the things I drool over. It turns out Chiappa Rhinos (.357-Magnum) are as rare as the African animal around here.
Got the two-inch version. This revolver is just way cool (and so different). That's why I like it. It fits in with my other "unconventional design" guns (like my FNHs). I like guns that are different, and this one fits the bill perfectly. Can't wait to go try it out. Word is that the felt recoil is significantly lower due to the low bore axis (shoots out of the bottom of the cylinder). The grips are rubber and feel very comfortable.
Now, I know some think this thing is "butt ugly." But, arguably Glocks are "ugly," too. I find beauty in functionality. And, like Glocks and FNHs, I think the Rhino is very much a "form follows function" design. And, I just love that.
Pics... hot off the presses!
A couple more shots to highlight the unique flat-sided cylinder. The revolver is only 1.4-inches wide.
"Say hello to my little friend."Notice how much lower the bore axis is and how it lines up with my hand.

The Rhino is a pretty cool looking revolver. Do you have other 357 mag revolvers that you could compare recoil to? It would be interesting to see a side-by-side comparison.
I'd really like to handle one, but I have yet to see one in person.

I don't have a .357 to compare to. But, I do have a S&W 642 Airweight (.38-SPL) I can compare to, firing .38-SPL rounds, of course. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to go to the range on Friday. Will report back!Originally Posted by djv38

Nice write-up. First I ever seen one, cool but a little pricey.
Had a chance to hold on at my lgs. Very interesting concept. Yeah a bit pricey, but that's what friends say about my 5.7/PS90 combo! Cool looking gun though. I'm just an "auto" kind of guy I think. Had revolvers....now they're all gone.

Yeah... kinda funny to hear folks on an FNH forum complain about a gun being "pricey."Originally Posted by STL9MM

But, different strokes, as they say.![]()
I knew that when I "said" it! It's all relative to what we want and what we'll spend on it. I knew it came out a bit funny! If you're into diamonds they're worth the cost..cost for some of the equipment at the radio station I work at would blow your mind..for something that would fit in your glove box! I do think it's a cool gun.....and if I wanted a unique revolver it would be my first choice! As mentioned, friends that aren't really familiar with FN look a bit glazed when they know what the 5.7 or the PS90 cost. But to most of us...it's worth it!Keep us posted on how she works at the range. The concept of the low axis is interesting.

No doubt.... value is in the eye of the beholder. My SCAR-16 was stupid-expensive. But, I love it. The FS2000 wasn't cheap, either. But, I love my FNHs. And, I like guns that are unusual and strongly favor "form follows function."Originally Posted by STL9MM
