Amazingly, yes! This is my grandfather's WWII Colt 1911 service pistol - I inherited it and always wondered if it would shoot properly given a good cleaning and tune-up. Amazingly, it did! It won't load hollow points, but aside from being a bit inaccurate compared to my Taurus 1911 and a Colt Commander 1911 that I begrudgingly parted with, with FMJ it did fine! I'm no master gunsmith or anything even resembling such, but I didn't think it would function as well as it did. What a wonderful platform.
Does sitting in a dresser unused for 3/4 of a century count as a torture test?![]()
Wow that is truly amazing that it with stood that test of time. What a rich piece of history.
Nothing good can ever come from staying with normal people.
That gun just oozes cool and history! Thanks for posting the pics, you should be a very proud inheritor..................dj

I was impressed too, Vishous! Now let's see if my grandchildren can shoot my Beretta 92F in 2075 after it's gone through the same! As I hope to be dead by then, I'll make sure to create FNForum accounts for them and set an e-mail reminder for them to follow-up.
Beautiful!
