Sorry for playing armchair commando about the 3" platform. I owned a Colt Defender for a short time and sold it to preference to the Government model. I had no issues with mine, but have read numerous horror stories about the Kimber models and 3" 1911's in general. No specific evidence from my side, just internet research so it must be true.
If work was easy, the wife and kids would be doing it.
I don't mean to gore anyones Sacred Cow. And FWIW 1911's are probably the most Sacred Cow among pistols!
Your's certainly looks as it's working well for you.
I have had issues with a couple shorty 1911's that I owned. But I mentioned Bruce Grey because he is a professional 1911 Smith who if you are serious in finding out all the details he is someone that can authoritatively provide them to you. His experience is well beyond the few that I've had.
That being said just becuase a lot of them have issues doesn't mean that all of them do and your's might be a perfectly reliable CCW choice for you. It's just that in fairness when talking to someone that is considering the purchase of one and asks about them if you know that they have had issues with them I think it's only honest to mention them.............................dj

I own and carry both a Kimber RCP II (with a Crimson Trace laser grip) and a Para Warthog. The RCP II has been flawless after I put the first 100 through it. During the initial 100, I had 2 failure to return to battery. Since then, not another problem. I currently have just over 1000 rounds through it. It's also suprisingly accurate for a gutter sight.
The Warthog gets an FTF every now and then (maybe 1 per 100 rounds), but I only have around 350 through it at this point. I've only carried the Hawg a couple times to check the feel. It is a little on the bulky size. And I don't trust it to make it a primary yet.
