Thoughts about the XD Sub Compact 3"

So my wife is thinking about buying a XD Sub Compact 3" for conceal carry. She rented one the other day at the LGS. She really liked it and plans to rent it again when we go to our conceal carry course on Valentines day. Anybody have anything good or bad to say about this gun?

I have one in 9mm. It is an excellent little pistol. Accurate and reliable with surprisingly high capacity. I had one in 40 S&W that I didn't care for as much. The 40 compact was the only XD out of several that had any reliability issues and it was just a bit snarky. I much prefered the 9x19 in the compact.

Here it is compared to a couple other pistols:

Very nice collection dj. So which is your favorite? Stupid question, but what is the two tone one? Can't quite make out what is written on the slide. Thanks for the comments.

The silver slide is a XD 9x19 stainless. I sold it and bought a matching OD XD 9x19.

My favorite probably would be the P2000sk. It's a 40 S&W but for some reason is easier to shoot that the XD40 compact. The best for the money would be the XD compact.

I'm also a Big fan of the XD45 compact. I haven't shot the new XDm Compact but really like the older model 45. So have my freinds that have shot it, 3 of them bought XD45 compacts.

Overall I think that XD's are about the best deal going. They come with extra mags, holsters etc. and are priced very competively. Nothing at all wrong with Glocks but I prefer the grip angle of the XD's and they usually are somewhat less expensive than the comparable glock. The Glock 45's feel like 2x4's in hand (they still shoot great though) wereas the XD45's fit my hand much better.

I also really like the H&K's especially with the LEM module, I wish my P2000's were LEM's but they aren't. The H&K's are excellent pistols but quite a bit more expensive.

The Smith and Wesson M&P's are nice guns, especially with an Apex trigger kit in them.

We are very fortunate nowadays that there are quite a few excellent choices in pistols. There are several models you can't really go too far wrong with and XD's are in that mix. ....................dj
