    A bittersweet find

Recently my wife's grandfather passed away at 93yrs old. He was a WWII infantryman and a great person who eventually did like me even though I was dating his granddaughter. While cleaning out his apartment my wife's parents found this little piece in his safe. No one even knew that he had it. They asked me to take it to a gun show and get some more information about it. I did some digging and have found out that it is a Walther Model 9 type II 25 cal. It is in pretty rough condition but fortunately they are not looking to sell it. They just want to know more. From my internet searching and gun show "Experts" it seems that it is a German Officer's surrender gun. He had it's original leather shoulder holster and capture tag with his name on it. He was a funny guy and told me a few of his funnier stories from his uniformed days. I'm returning the pistol to my wife's family this weekend so if anyone has any additional information or questions please let me know!

Almost looks like a baby Browning.

From what I've found by Walther releasing this pistol was the second micro pistol in the market back then. The small calibers were legal to carry in Europe which gave them a lot of momentum which forced the development and production of the Baby Browning.
