    [Mini Review] Baikal MP-446 "Viking"

here is a unpretentious "mini review" of my new "toy", the Rustic Baikal MP-446 "Viking"

    The Origin
straight out of the factory of Izhevsk Mechanical (IzMech more known as Baikal )
it is the civilian version of theMP-443 "Grach" Gun Staffing in the Russian army since 2003 (In fact there is to my knowledge that the Special Force so equipped, the rest of the army merely the stainless Makarov, Makarov's replacement will be a priori the“Strizh” of the Italo/Russian Company "Arsenal Firearms" (the "creator" of the 1911 "double barrel")

it differs mainly by a polymer frame (metal on the "Grach") and 3 dot white sights (Tritium on the "Grach")

    unpacking
Amateur of beautiful packaging, richly rigged ... Flee!
There, it is lousy, the gun, 2 magazines, a stick ... and that's it, all wrapped in bold paper in a cardboard box

The weapon remains well finished, rough , it is Russian, no fuss, very steep (even new), rough to the touch, the markings are very clean, nice metal finishing parts "matte black", the weapon has a SA / DA action

Here with my 226 to give an idea of the size

    the two side

    a "rail" (HK Format)
    reversible ejection button
Ambidextrous safety: do not allow decoking, when she switched it blocks the trigger, the hammer and the cylinder head
Bolt catch ... of the classic

the hammer is "hidden" by the cylinder head, making the decoking operation not very simple, but good in the long ...

viewed from above, we can see the chambered cartridge indicator

    seen with a chambered cartridge

    the mag

    Field strip
Clear weapon, hammer triggered and safety removed, just remove the slide stop lever, then slide the bolt forward

    Range report

Very precise, very nice trigger whether in SA or DA, a super grip, comfortable, I am totally in love with this Russian pistol, it's really for me one of the best pistol I've tested ( it's not a discovery I eyeing on it for a while)
I'll have it all mechanized, to soften the function of the pistol and to thin my handling, but there is potential

I look forward waiting for a picatinny adapter and the "LAM-1000" Soviet . that it approaches the configuration used by Vimpel
    sorry for the bad translation
now thank you for reading, if you have any other questions and comments, it is your turn
akitainu, ZigHunter, Kev and 1 others thanked this.

It's difficult to get pretty much anything imported into the US. Sucks too, I've always had a bit of a nerd-on for this weapon

Nice review. I'd like to get my hands on one of those.

Interesting pistol, the only Baikal products I've ever seen are over and under shotguns. What is up with the scorpion patch and the shark medal in the first two pictures?
If work was easy, the wife and kids would be doing it.

just to dress up my picture with something reminiscent of Eastern Europe
the scorpion patch is a patch of 47th Spetsnaz Regiment of Interior Troops
the shark insignia coming from a submarine beret but , I can't remember the name
    mrcharlie thanked this.
