So, several months back, I traded for this Charles Daly 1911EFS. I quickly, for giggles, threw on the Boondock Saints grips, as well as the bushing comp. Only mods done were polishing up the bow, sear, disconnector, and the part the bow rides in, for a smoother pull. Also, as you can see in the pics, I had slimmed up the slide lock, as it was too wide to fit into any of my holsters.

Well, I since added a front Trijicon night sight, and in doing so, had to do a little trimming. So the finish wasn't so nice, around the sight. As it's an inexpensive pistol to start with, and a friend does nickel-teflon, as well as moly-teflon, coatings, I thought the CD would be a great candidate for refinishing. So, into the sandblaster it went. And a few hours later.....

It came out with nickel-teflon small parts, the mag release, slide lock, safeties, beaver tail and mainspring housing. The lower frame is black moly-teflon, while the slide is nickel-teflon on the inside, coyote tan moly-teflon on the outside. A set of VZ grips now adorn the pistol, and while stainless screws came with the grips, they were of the wrong pitch to fit the bushings.

I had to polish the rails a bit afterwards, and prior to the new coatings, I had polished the feed ramp/barrel throat. So, what do ya think? Future mods that are planned are a new fire control group, and magwell. Maybe, lol.

Anyway, thought I'd share. I haven't shot it yet, since refinishing. But for a cheap 1911, it's fit is excellent, and now it has a finish to match, IMHO.

all shots at 7 yds as i feel it is most practical.

colt rail slightly customized, first 20 rounds i ever fired through it.

    springfield pro, 9rds.

i would probably consolidate two to one if i could find a pro rail. i still like both for different reasons and carry them at different times. there are no safe queens.

Dude...Nice! Has the same rubber grips as my S&W. Makes it nice and light, but I'm thinking of changing them out.
